Module 1: Mindset: The Best Job In The World

Customer service isn't a stepping stone; it's a cornerstone. Treat it with love, and it will lift you.

Core Principles

Story: Toilets and All

I began my hotel career as a housekeeping attendant.
I didn't just clean; I cared. Toilets and all needed to receive my best effort.
Because, every detail mattered to someone; and that someone mattered to me.

Story: My Mouth In Control

While covering a different area of the hotel, a colleague rudely asked, "You are going to clean the floors, aren't you?"
I planned to ignore it. However, my mouth took control and replied: "Of course not! They're self-cleaning, aren't they?
She reported me to the new Hotel Manager; stating I was not doing my job.
He, in turn, contacted my Department Manager.
However, my Department Manager defended me, saying there must be some misunderstanding.
I had one of the cleanest floors in the hotel; which was why I was asked to cover that area for the day.

Story: The Cord and the Climb

That same Hotel Manager climbed 15 double flights of stairs to find me and personally apologize.
Then, as a joke, he unplugged my vacuum and watched me inspect it before revealing the cord in his hand, as he stood there smiling.
That moment taught me: Leadership isn't just about authority; it's about connection.

Questions For Reflection

I promise things will not change, instantly; but they will change, as will you, over time.
You will feel more content; opportunities for growth, progress, and the change appear from various outlets and pathways.
